Through our timetabled 20-minute sessions each morning, consisting of reading of fiction texts, non-fiction texts and thematic debate, we have made clear our commitment to promote \u2018Reading for Pleasure\u2019 by placing it at the heart of our curriculum.<\/p><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>By promoting, inspiring and supporting our students with regards to \u2018Reading for Pleasure,\u2019 it is our intention to:<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><ul><li>Develop a lifelong appreciation of reading\u00a0<\/li><li>Remove barriers to learning<\/li><li>Enable students to leave school \u2018able and qualified<\/li><\/ul><div>\u00a0<\/div><p>Central to this is the Reading for Pleasure curriculum.<\/p><div>All students from Y7 \u2013 Y12 will follow this curriculum, outlined below:<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-inner-section elementor-element elementor-element-ba925e3 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"ba925e3\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-bdc5b78\" data-id=\"bdc5b78\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0de70aa elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0de70aa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div><table style=\"height: 125px;\" width=\"286\"><tbody><tr><td width=\"120\"><p>Monday<\/p><\/td><td width=\"120\"><p>Tuesday<\/p><\/td><td width=\"120\"><p>Wednesday<\/p><\/td><td width=\"120\"><p>Thursday<\/p><\/td><td width=\"120\"><p>Friday<\/p><\/td><\/tr><tr><td width=\"120\"><p>Year Group Novel (Teacher-led)<\/p><\/td><td width=\"120\"><p>Thematic Reading (Non-fiction)<\/p><\/td><td width=\"120\"><p>Independent Reading<\/p><\/td><td width=\"120\"><p>Thematic Reading (Oracy Sesssion)<\/p><\/td><td width=\"120\"><p>Year Group Novel (Teacher-led)<\/p><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/div><div>As part of this curriculum, students bring their own chosen text on Wednesdays to take part in the independent reading sessions.<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Through the\u00a0Year Group Novel sessions on Mondays and\u00a0Fridays, students will experience 15 novels from the start of Y7 through to Y11, exposing them to over 800,000 words.
